After all the design work, samples and planning, the moment finally came. Our order was paid for and a full container of chairs was ready to be delivered and... the timing could not have been worse.
Cyclone Alfred was on its way! Rolling down through QLD and heading right towards our home near Byron Bay, bringing some pretty heavy rain, flooding and strong winds. Oh and at the same time Kelly was 39 weeks pregnant. Like I said, not great timing.
But when the container arrived we didn't have much choice, it had to be unpacked. I didn't realize that the transport was booked in as a live unloading (a quick google search revealed that I was going to be charged additional $$$ for every hour it took to unload), I was lucky enough to get a hand from a couple co-workers for a few hours to make things move a bit quicker but it was still a massive effort and one of those moments where everything feels slightly out of control.
Row by row, box by box, it all started to come together, It probably would have taken me 12 hours if I was by myself, but we smashed it out in a few hours and got them all into storage safe from the rain and wind of the cyclone. A few days after we finished packing away the chairs we noticed that the waters were rising, flood alerts were put out as the cyclone got even closer and we got real worried for a second there. The water ended up rising about 2 meters were we lived but stopped about 30cm short from were the chairs were stored (that was too close for comfort).
Not long after that, the focus shifted again as we welcomed the birth of our beautiful baby girl into the world.
After a few weeks off spent enjoying the new addition to our little family we started getting content, shooting photos and videos wherever we could. Beach trips, parks and the backyard. It was a bit of trial and error at first, figuring out what worked, what looked good, and how to best show off the chairs in a natural way. It feels like were just getting started and so excited to create more content and start making some sales!
